Back on Track Rosehip Powder is a coarsely ground complementary feed for horses, rich in natural vitamin C and antioxidants, and possessing anti-inflammatory properties. It consists of 80% rosehip shells and 20% rosehip seeds – a combination known for its positive effects on the immune system, joints, and overall well-being of horses. This powder can help alleviate inflammation, support recovery, and promote general vitality. Ideal as a natural supplement in daily feed.
Rosehip powder can be adjusted to the horse's training level:
• Horses in normal training: 5 g per 100 kg body weight daily
• Horses in active, intensive training: up to 10 g per 100 kg body weight daily
A 500 kg horse would therefore receive approximately 25 g per day during normal training, while it can receive up to 50 g per day during hard training.
Rosehip powder can be easily mixed into daily feed – preferably into moist mash or soaked hay cobs, so that it adheres well and is not blown out of the trough. If your horse receives dry feed, you can also lightly moisten it so that the powder does not dust and is better absorbed.
Rosehip powder can generally be fed over a longer period, as it is a natural product and well-tolerated. Nevertheless, there are a few things to consider:
• Duration of feeding: Many horse owners feed it in courses, e.g., over 6–8 weeks, especially during phases of increased stress (training, coat change, stress). However, if your horse benefits from the positive effects, you can also give it permanently at a lower dosage.
• Take breaks: For longer feeding, it makes sense to occasionally take breaks of 2–3 weeks to ensure that the body does not get used to it and the effect is maintained.
• Avoid overdosing: Even if it is a natural product, the recommended dosage should be adhered to – too much vitamin C can in rare cases lead to stomach irritation.
• Individual tolerance: Observe your horse especially at the beginning of feeding – if you notice changes in behavior, digestion, or feed intake, an adjustment of the amount or a break
Long-term, rosehip powder can have many positive effects:
• Strengthening the immune system: Thanks to its high vitamin C content, it supports the immune system, especially during stressful times, weather changes, or during coat changes.
• Promoting joint health: The anti-inflammatory properties can help prevent joint problems or alleviate existing ones – ideal for sport horses or older animals.
• Supporting regeneration: After strenuous training or injuries, the powder can help the body recover faster.
• Healthy skin and shiny coat: The antioxidants contained contribute to cell health, which often shows in a more beautiful coat and better skin.
